A Great Quote
"Recently, at a point of facing my shame I told the Lord that I just can't get past it. He said to me,"Then you're saying what I have done for you isn't enough." What could I say to that? He has paid the price for me and I say it's not enough. My shame is too great for his sacrifice?"
I thought this quote was quite humbling. Thank you, God, for paying for me. It is too much to grasp on to. To be quite honest, I don't believe I'm worth it.

10 lessons about ourselves as parents. For more follow the link to the Article "39 Lessons, 20 Tips and 10 "Don'ts" For Parenting"
About ourselves
1. To be a faithful steward of your children you must abide in Christ (John 15:5: "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.").
2. "Trickle down theory" – Mom's daily devotion naturally trickles down to encouragement and instruction in the Lord for the children.
3. Not listening to your children causes you to misjudge them (James 1:19-20: "Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires").
4. Our task list is not as important as our children's thought life.
5. Preach the gospel of grace, not self-discipline.
6. Being parented is defining; Parenting is refining.
7. You will parent the way you were parented unless you think things through.
8. Parents should become "smaller" as their children become bigger. In other words, a parent should become more transparent in confessing one's sin and in sharing past struggles as children mature. Your children should hear more about your fight for faith as they grow older. Don't be a plastic Christian!
9. Ordinary times make for extraordinary memories.
10. To have children is to need margin in your life.
11. A disreputable life will undermine the gospel. An exemplary life will commend it.

Here are my great chefs in the making. Everytime Pixie and Butterfinger are together my work load gets easier. They cook, clean, and take care of the little snacks and all with a happy heart. It is so fun to watch their two cooking shows, "Crafty Cooking" and "Creative Kitchen". They change the name depending on whose house they are cooking at.

I took this pic because of Jelly Bean who decided to watch them up close. I guess she thought that the counter top was the best place to be and climbed up without me noticing. What a cutie pie!

Food Poisoning Stinks!
Okay, I remember sitting in my girls room yesterday organizing sock drawers and thinking, "Only God knows what the future holds for me. Only God knows what I'll be doing even tonight!" Well, He was the only one who knew that I would be throwing up everything I'd eaten during the day.
This is the second time I can remember having food poisoning. Starting with the sharp stomach pain ,that both times I'd mistaken for something else, and ending with the complete emptying of my stomach. It's pretty nasty and hurts pretty bad. It wasn't the worst thing ever though and, when I came to, Big Hunk had made me some homemade ginger tea to ease the nausea. Plus, the snacks were all in bed and asleep and I didn't have to remind anyone to be quiet.
All that food I ate yesterday, that no one else ate, is being dumped in just a couple of minutes!

Changing of seasons
As mild as our winters are I still have to pull out the cold weather clothing. I'm really glad it's not snow boots and big plastic-like jackets but, it is plenty of long sleeves and sweaters. I took pictures this year which don't do "Project Change Over" justice. But here is what it looked like at one point.

The project took about a week and included each kid trying on several items. It's always fun to try on clothes at the beginning of the project but after a little while the excitement wears off. (No pun intended)

This is another one of those things that I feel the need to simplify and create a system for. It went pretty well this year. It may have been one of our quickest change overs.

My new way of storing the kids clothes is to give each one their own bucket (kept in the garage) and I put everything in that will fit them next season or is worth keeping for a couple years down the road. I also have one big bucket for shoes that is gone through whenever someone has outgrown their shoes or we need to pull out winter/dressy Christmas shoes or summertime sandals. It's a lot easier than my old system of putting all girls clothes in one bucket and my sons in another. This way if I need something for one kid I can go to their bucket and sift through a lot quicker.

Our Thanksgiving Morning Hike
We found a new place to hike. Here are the snacks before the hike.

It has enough trails to keep us going for, well, it kept us going for about 1.5 hours that day.

Jelly Bean is getting tired and a little grumpy.

Happy now!

Home for a nice dinner. Isn't that bread pretty?

Marshmallow really liked it.

Big Hunk made most of our delicious dinner but, everyone helped a little.
The tree was up and decorated sooner than any other year. Our goal was to be done with the Christmas decorating in 1 to 2 days. We pretty much made it with a few tiny little things here and there left to hang.
Our gingerbread houses...
A couple days later we finally got around to putting together our gingerbread houses. Pixie Stick made our gingerbread pieces this year.

Our costumes this year
This kids took care of their own costumes this year (for the most part). This is what they came up with.
Our Hippie...Complete with blonde wig.

Our Rambo...the fightn' kind. We did have a lot of fun with those wigs. He's never seen Rambo and doesn't know that Rambo really has black hair.

Our Chinese princess...They've never been to China and must not know that their hair should be black.

Our other Chinese princess...Again, hair doesn't matter.

Our Abby Cadaby...(I know I'm not spelling that correctly and I just recently found out what the Sesame Street Abby Cadaby looks like. It's nothing like ours. But, ours is cuter.)
